Mass wasting in Venezuela 

  • Mass wasting is the movement of rocks and soils. Some examples would be debris flows, slumps and rock falls. Landslides are usually triggered by earthquakes, Volcanic eruptions and intense rainfall. 

In Venezuela Landslides are known to be one of the most dangerous disasters to happen in the country.  The landslides have caused numerous deaths and massive damages. In Las Tijeras, Venezuela a landslide  hit affecting the death of 34 residents and a total of 60 people missing. Residents neighborhoods were blocked with mud. A heavy machinery was used to remove the debris. Dogs and drowns had to be used to find people under the debris. It was reported that a total of 317 homes were wiped out.

  2. Hi Cinthia, It's crazy the amount of damage a landslide can cause, 317 homes being destroyed is incredibly scary.
