Back in july 29,1967 yet again, another earthquake hit the coastal area of Venezuela with a magnitude of 6.3. This earthquake affected many lives and various towns in the country. This eventually led to the Venezuelan government to establish Presidential Earthquake commission. This commission concentrated in studying the after effects of the earthquakes. This was to understand the effects but also to be better prepare for another strike.
The most recent earthquake that had about the same impact as the ones above , Was back in 2018 in the Trinidad region. It was a magnitude of 7.3. The shifting tectonic plates was a depth of 146 km. This earthquake led to a tsunami killing a number of people and causing a massive destruction.

ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteYour blog was really interesting that the fact that there has been so many earthquakes in Venezuela. I can't believe that 20,000 people died! In my country there was a big earthquake as well that had 7.0 magnitudes and caused damage over 100- kilometers radius and killed more than 3,500 people. I think the numbers of death are insane.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI think it’s so tragic that so many people have died from the earthquakes in Venezuela. As far as I know, no one died in the earthquakes that happened in the Netherlands, which is the country I’m studying. It’s not surprising, considering that their most severe earthquake was only a level 5.8 on the Richter scale.
